Inflammation in the Body

Inflammation is the body’s natural defense mechanism that helps protect against injury, infection, and harmful substances. It is part of the immune system’s healing process, allowing the body to fight off invaders and repair damaged tissues. There are two main types of inflammation: acute and chronic. Acute inflammation is short-term and occurs quickly, often seen as redness, swelling, or warmth when you have a cut, sprain, or infection. Chronic inflammation, however, lasts longer and can become harmful, contributing to conditions such as arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, and autoimmune disorders. Common signs of inflammation include pain, swelling, stiffness, and loss of function in the affected area. Factors like poor diet, stress, smoking, alcohol, and lack of sleep can worsen inflammation. To reduce it naturally, one can follow an anti-inflammatory lifestyle by eating fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and omega-3-rich foods, exercising regularly, managing stress, sleeping well, and avoiding unhealthy habits. While inflammation is essential for healing, keeping it under control is vital for long-term health and well-being.
